Press Herald: Keep big money out of Maine politics

I am writing to voice my support for voting Yes on 1, a crucial measure that will help get big money out of politics and put more power in the hands of Maine voters. It is time to end the corrosive influence of big money in our elections and ensure that our democracy is protected for future generations.

By placing a limit of $5,000 on contributions to political action committees that make independent expenditures (super PACs), Yes on 1 will close the loopholes that allow billionaires, big corporations and special interests to buy elections. This initiative will level the playing field and give candidates with the best ideas, but not the wealthiest friends, a fighting chance. It is time to put the public good ahead of special interests and restore balance to our political process.
